A personal research protocol is a written plan for one adult and one goal, built from an intake and a set of labs, reviewed by a second person and released by a coach. It is not complicated, but it has moving parts that are easier to use once you have seen them laid out: a pen is 300 clicks and the dose per click depends on the pen; labs decide what leads and whether a dose holds, steps or stops; three documents say the same thing at three depths; the budget option is written before the upgrade; a cycle has a shape; and switching from a prescribed GLP-1 medicine is phased, never stacked.
Each guide below covers one of those parts in about a thousand words, links to the compound and goal pages it depends on, and ends with the questions we are asked about it most. None of them contains a dose for you — doses live in your own protocol, after your labs have been read — and none of them describes how a dose is physically taken; that is a conversation with your coach and your physician.
The guides
How pen clicks work
One pen, 300 clicks. Turn mg per pen into mcg per click, check a dose, count pens per cycle.
Guide · labsBaseline labs
The panel before a cycle, the mid-cycle repeat, and the house rules for reading it.
Guide · documentsHow to read your protocol
Results version, full clinical document, physician copy — what each is for and how the check-ins use them.
Guide · optionsCombo pens vs separate pens
Option A on one schedule, Option B with independent dosing — and why A is written first.
Guide · the cycleThe 12-week cycle
Ramp, hold, week-6 labs, taper, off period — and what the next-cycle decision looks like.
Guide · transitionComing off a GLP-1
Semaglutide or tirzepatide to a protocol: the taper, the phase-in, and why no overlap at full dose.
Where the guides sit
- Research library — one page per compound: what it is studied for, the house schedule in milligrams and clicks, the labs and the mistakes.
- Protocols by goal — one page per goal: what a plan usually contains, what people notice and when, how it is built.
- Guides — this section: the mechanics every protocol shares, written so the numbers and the decisions can be checked by the person they are written for.
- FAQ — the short answers, grouped the way people ask them.
Suggested reading sequence
If you are about to start the intake: baseline labs first, so the draw can be booked now. If a protocol has just arrived: how to read your protocol, then pen clicks to check the fridge page. If you are deciding between the options: combo versus separate pens. If you are on a GLP-1 medicine: the transition guide, and take it to your prescriber.
